The Committee for Advanced Therapies (CAT) consults its working parties and other groups on scientific issues relating to their particular field of expertise, and delegates certain tasks to them associated with the scientific evaluation of applications or drafting and revision of scientific guidance documents.

The CAT also sets up ad-hoc drafting groups whenever needed to develop specific guidance documents. Each drafting group includes around five experts drawn from the CAT's members and the European expert list.
