“Our commitment to patients’ welfare will continue to guide our work in 2016”
End-of-year message by Executive Director, Professor Guido Rasi
2015 was an important year for public health in the European Union.
Some of the medicines assessed by EMA in 2015 have the potential to make a difference to people’s lives, because they add new, innovative ways to treat certain diseases. These medicines are the result of progress in science because they build on a better understanding of the human body and how diseases develop.
Our commitment to patients’ welfare will continue to guide our work in 2016 as we aim to contribute to a more rapid translation of scientific progress into authorised medicines that address patients’ needs, in order to advance the health of European citizens.
I would like to thank all our colleagues and partners, as well as our stakeholders including patients, doctors and other health professionals for your dedication and hard work. You shared your views, concerns and experiences with us and you helped us to protect public and animal health in 2015. I am convinced that, together, we will be able to address the challenges ahead and continue to successfully protect human and animal health in Europe.
I am looking forward to our collaboration in 2016.
I and all staff at EMA wish you a pleasant holiday season and a healthy, productive and happy New Year.
