Scientific Advice Working Party
The Scientific Advice Working Party (SAWP-V) was set up to provide recommendations to the Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products (CVMP) on all matters relating directly or indirectly to veterinary medicinal products.
Responsibilities and composition
The group’s responsibilities include making recommendations in areas such as the establishment of maximum residue limits (MRLs) for veterinary medicines for use in food-producing animals and providing scientific advice on marketing authorisation applications for products for minor uses and minor species (MUMS).
The group is composed of representatives of the CVMP with an appropriate scientific background. When required, additional European experts identified by the CVMP may be appointed to participate. Observers from non-European Economic Area countries may also participate with the agreement of the group’s chair and EMA.
