Expressions of interest invited for transatlantic workshop on drug-related PML

The European Medicines Agency is inviting experts and stakeholders to express their interest in attending a two-day workshop on drug-related progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) in London on 25-26 July 2011.
The workshop is being hosted by the European Medicines Agency and co-chaired with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The objectives of the workshop are:
- Finding a common understanding of the priorities for research in PML;
- Mapping ongoing research and identifying gaps in PML;
- Fostering funding and partnerships to conduct research to fill knowledge and research gaps in the field;
- Agreeing on a mechanism to ensure information-sharing and regular stocktaking of research results, knowledge and knowledge gaps.
The Agency and the FDA expect to bring together participants from different countries and fields, with the common purpose of reducing the burden of PML and improving the protection of public health.
Experts and stakeholders interested in attending should send an expression of interest to PML-workshop2011@ema.europa.eu by 30 April 2011. Please note that speakers at the workshop will be invited by the organisers and that places for attendees will be limited.
