European Sales and Use of Antimicrobials for Veterinary Medicine Working Group

The European Sales and Use of Antimicrobials for Veterinary Medicine Working Group (ESUAvet) provides strategic guidance and recommendations to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and its Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products (CVMP). This guidance refers to the collection and analysis of data on sales volumes of veterinary antimicrobials and the use of antimicrobials in animals in the European Union (EU).

The working group coordinates liaison with relevant national bodies responsible for collecting and reporting the relevant data.

Mandate, rules, responsibilities and composition

The working group supports EMA in meeting its obligations in the surveillance and monitoring of sales of veterinary antimicrobials and the use of antimicrobials in animals in the EU.

The CVMP may delegate tasks to the working group, which may set up its own drafting groups or operational expert groups to lead on tasks such as developing scientific or technical content.
