The Medical Device Shortages Single Point of Contact (SPOC) Working Party meets as needed during public health emergencies. It also contributes to ongoing activities of the Executive Steering Group on Shortages of Medical Devices (MDSSG) that may require its involvement.
In the absence of a declared public health emergency, the Medical Device Shortages SPOC Working Party remains dormant.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) established the working party in June 2023, in accordance with the Regulation on EMA's Reinforced Role (Regulation (EU) 2022/123).
Previously, EMA's Executive Steering Group on Shortages of Medical Devices had agreed the working party's rules of procedure.
