Oxygen, sodium chloride solution 0.9% has been shown to protect neurons, oligodendrocytes, and neuromuscular junctions in animal models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases. It activates intracellular signalling pathways to increase mitochondrial biogenesis and oxidative metabolism as well as cell survival and differentiation. Via activation of the same intracellular pathways, Oxygen, sodium chloride solution 0.9% has also demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects, modulating the activity of glial cells and T cells.
